Shelley Leong Spoke to ME!!!

Guys! Guess wat?? Shelley Leong spoke to me!! it was AWESOME!!! hahaha ... but in email la of course ... Wat happened was, i was going thru her website
http://www.xanga.com/shelleyleong and wanted to ask her something about singing... so, i emailed her. Then, this morning the replied me back. Wow, this is my first time receiving an email from a celebrity.. hehe. Anyway, i dun care if her email was replied by one of her assistant/friend or something, it was her email address that i received from okay? And tat is all that matter .. ha.

ok.. here is the actual content of my 'conversation' with Shelley Leong (Hey! we both got the same surname! Cool eh? :D)

This is from me:
"Hi Shelley... i'm Andrew from KL. Ive heard yr singing in yr interview with Mr Brown (podcast) and i would like to say that you sing fantastically! i've heard your name mentioned before but have never gotten to listen to u LIVE in Malaysia.

Well, i enjoyed singing too. i sing in the Church where im attending now. However, there is some question which i'd like to ask u on one of the problem i faced in my singing (i'm not too sure if its appropriate for me to ask u this through email,
pls let me know if its not yr practice to give technical advise through email).
i realized that if ive not been singing / practising for the week, and sings on a particular day, the chances of cracking my voice is high. i can only sing maybe 3 songs, and the 4th i would be struggling to sing with a cracked voice.

i'd like to know if this a problem due to myself not having enuf singing practice? Or is there something wrong with my technique of singing? i'm aware of singing using the diaphragm (and i believe i'm using it ..correctly i hope .:)) Hope you could give me
some insights into this...

i'd like to wish u all the best in all yr albums and
musical performances. Malaysia Boleh!

Signing Off,
Andrew Leong (i've the same surname as u! haha)"

Okey, and this is from Shelley Leong to me:
"Dear Andrew,
Thanks for your compliments, and for writing.

To answer your question briefly, Singing is like
running a marathon - it is really a physical activity.
So, therefore, we also need to build stamina for
singing - meaning regular practice, and also warming
up before you sing (with some vocal warmup exercises).

The reason your voice cracks are probably because of
one or more of the possibilities:
1. not warmed up
2. the stamina issue.
3. not relaxed, stress, nervousness

Hopefully, I'll be able to give some vocal workshops
when I get back, so keep in touch.

Meanwhile, sing everyday or at least more regularly
and warm up. But always remember to not sing more than
30-45 minutes at one go. And drink lots of water.

Warmest regards,
Shelley"
